Congratulation! Welcome to the world of Amateur Radio!

As start get yourself a callsign. once you have callsign. Then only you can go on air. If you haven't get yourself a callsign, if you have unit in your hand or mobile unit, switch to repeater and monitor (be SWL) on how QSO was done on the air.

Cheers!

This thing beginning to get into my 'nerve'....

Who in Penang can guide me (not online guide, I need real exposure, eyes to eyes, heart to heart, but not body to body)? Anybody from Seberang Perai Selatan?

TQ

My last visit back to Penang saw my brother using sort of a walkie-talkie, can receive / heard many people talking on a specific channel. It is called a trunk radio ?

The interesting part , this group of people use this channel within the Penang island, Butterworth n BM to inform about crimes, request for help and etc. Sort of like Crime Watch.

Ie. you saw a snatch thief, you report it over the channel, those within the vicinity will come n help. Some come by car, by motorcycle and try to catch the thief and hand it over to the police.

According to the group, they have responded faster than police, catch more thieves than police. =D> And even been interviewed by local newspaper there because the community loves them. :good:

Any such group in KL / Klang Valley ?
