**** Submission Check ****

Postby doraemon » Sat Mar 28, 2009 10:29 am

Dear All contributors and members,

Its my pleasure to housekeep this forum. I will move all updated contributions into archives from time to time. This is to prevent this forum being overflow and messy.

I also sampling check on the contributions whether are they being updated properly into the map and remind mapper to recheck/correction based on the contributions.

But my advice is, please also check your contributions against newly updated maps. Do highlight mistakes updated in the map to the mappers. He is happy to correct them.

Again a reminder to all contributors... make sure you classify ROAD TYPE in your gdb file. Its important to avoid routing errors.

The most commonly used road types are:
1) alley/private road/1 lane 2 way road/kampung road = 2-5km/h
2) residential street = 5-20km/h
3) collector road = 20-40km/h
4) arterial road = 40-60km/h

Thanks!

PS: bro OngCC plz correct on the speed if i am wrong.

Just let me know the road type & name will do, I'll decide the speed.

Setting the correct speed on any roads/polylines will greatly help in recommending the best and fastest way to reach a destination, especially if there's similar multiple routes to reach the destination.

I have been recommending some changes of best/recommended routing on some Singapore roads to bro OngCC and I'm very happy that he made the changes based on my recommendation. :peace: Informing the mapper on the correct speed limit on some certain stretches of roads will help too. :peace:

Road speed is for contributors to refer and decide what type of road their tracklog is. Alot of contributors wont know what are the difference between road types.

Bro fancheng PMed me the speed of the below road types. Bro OngCC plz comment. If its correct, then I will edit my post.

3) collector road = 60km/h
4) arterial road = 80km/h

Thanks.

Bro,
For a new contributor like me, I'm still not too sure what type of road to tag on my tracking. Hopefully some sifus out there can clear my mind. Thanks
