SOLVED! Roundabout icon display.

Postby bahathir » Wed Dec 17, 2008 10:42 am

I think there are some configurations need to do during map making, which enable the correct round about icon to showed on top left of certain nuvi models. The screenshots shows the same roundabout at Jalan Kuda Emas, but the Garmin City Navigator shows the icon correctly.

There should be parameters somewhere in the maps which tells the device which side of the road to be considered. I assumed this might also linked to to jumping lanes phenomenons, whhich GPSr makes priority to 'right hand side' of the road.

TQ

There should be a config code somewhere in the map but it is not known and accessible to us at the moment.

Good news everyone....Finally we can see the correct roundabout icon with MFM.

Thanks to cgpsmapper's author, Stanislaw Kozicki, who found the solution for this problem

Here is his email to me, which I received just now.
You have to get a hex editor - to edit IMG file directly as a binary file - then you'll need to change one byte:

00208c00h: 3F 00 47 41 52 4D 49 4E 20 4E 4F 44 01 00 09 00 ; ?.GARMIN NOD....
00208c10h: 02 08 16 3B 0C 3F 00 00 00 5E A4 0F 00 27 03 00 ; ...;.?...^¤..'..

Find GARMIN NOD - at offset 0x1d from beginning of GARMIN NOD you will see value 27 00 00
you have to change it to : 27 03 00 (as above)

With best regards,
Stanislaw Kozicki

You have to do it to all occurrences in the img file.

I tried his methods with MFM v146 and it is really works. See the screenshot :) I am very happy right now!!!
Thank you

Talk about coincidence. Bro 76gpsguy also discovered this setting 2 days ago and I had been testing the effects of applying this setting over the past 2 days. In addition to the roundabout icon being displayed properly, U-turns will be announced properly too  I will need to update the mappers on the proper ways to trigger the prompt and also users to uncheck U-turn avoidance.

Thanks also to Stan and bahathir for solving this issue =D>
