House Numbers on Streets (Penang, Kedah & Perlis)

Postby tympg » Thu Mar 12, 2009 8:26 pm

Here is my first post on house numbers along residential streets. The numbers are defined through some of the nodes of the street polylines in question. I copied the roads from 64008888.img and then I added the house numbering attributes in some of the nodes, adding some more nodes where necessary (to finetune the location of particular house numbers.) Note that the service road at Jalan Mas I have also renamed as Jalan Mas as 6-18 Jalan Mas are at that road.

Thanks.

PS: In this housing estate, all the 13's are actually 11-A, but I've chosen to ignore that, since Garmin house numbering in addresses does not recognise letters, just numbers.

That kind cannot help but ignore the letter part. So it'll be 1, 2, 3 on the left and 1, 2, 3 on the right as well....

Some places like Island Glades in Penang we have 1-A, 1-B,...until 1-Z. Roads with this kind of numbering, I will skip.

Yes, using Mapsource is easy. I have done it for Green Garden. Let's keep track or check in Mapsource before going out to map house number to avoid duplicating work.... cheers!

Bro,

Your house numbering looks strange... Normally it is even and odd numbering. Is this numbering unique to this area?... cheers!
