NavFree for Android

Postby Stop_Spamming » Sat Nov 26, 2011 6:39 pm

Hi all,

Saw this wonderful navi map app on Android market.
(App : https://market.android.com/details?id=com.navfree.android.OSM.ALL)

The app looks extremely promising, open-source, and 100% free! :-({|=
Problem : No maps for Asia yet, except India...let alone Malaysia or Singapore.
All maps available are from http://www.openstreetmap.org
Noticed too maps from Malaysia & Singapore are available but not for NavFree yet.

Is there any idea/way we all can work to get our maps available there?
Or anyone has the knowledge of making our maps here available for used with NavFree app?

Looking forward to get some attention from the seniors here...
and advise us accordingly on how to move forward...

By the way, NavFree by Navmii is available
on iDevices too!

Check them out here...

looks nice but no malaysia maps yet.

a while back i did try out OsmAnd on my android phone.
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/OsmAnd

Its really 100% free. The only shortfall is it uses the OSM map.
Currently the malaysia OSM is not really as updated as the MFM map..but i think its catching up.

Navmii/Navfree map sources are also from OSM. If they make Malaysia maps from OSM, it's gonna be rather awful. :)

sorry to raise an old thread. but I was wondering would it be possible to convert MFM maps to the OSM format so that this NavFree program could use it?

What would be the steps to do so?

technically, its possible to convert mfm maps to osm format BUT we'll have to depend of Navfree to compile the maps into their navigation app.

so it's not so simple that the NavFree app can read any OSM format?
