Converting from garmin to other map formats?

I'd like to ask the same question on behalf of my friend.

She recently bought a C905 Sony E. The problem with it, is none of the garmins would work due to its sophisticated A200 firmware nature which is just rubbish.
Proprietary OS's are sometimes plain annoying. In this case it is. I have however installed trekbuddy for her but i need to know if gmapsupp.img can be converted to a .tar file so that trekbuddy would read it.

I have used mapking, Que and Mobile XT.

And i must say i find que being the best ever....but too bad it's discontinued.
I had changed to XT as i was fed up with QUE having problems with locked maps.

With XT, u would be better off planing your routes before hand in mapsource n import in.

But with QUE, you can use it like a map, can do searching etc with out routing.

Now that there is MFM, try to use QUE and compare for yourself n u will know what i mean.
