I noticed almost contributors send their tracks which created by their GPS devises. Simple question. Can I just create tracks or paths by using Google Earth (GE)?
By my opinion, using GE have some advantages.
From GE, I can draw straight track or path, slowly edit it and no need go to actual location. This method suitable for local area.
Then the tracks or paths will be saved as .kml and converted to .gdb.
View .gdb in MapSource and the tracks appear same as in GE.
Are you accept this kind of tracks/paths ?
Please comment.

Re: Create tracks or paths by using Google Earth
To make story complete, here the sample:
1. In Google Earth I create a path and name it as sample_KSP and save as .kml
2. Convert it to .gpx
3. View .gpx in MapSource. It's looks ok (for me).

What is your offset for the tracing above? Be aware that GE images have differing offset values at different locations.

How to find out the offset? I'm interested to track in GE too for my home town area in BM, it is still some of the area are missing/incomplete from MFM.

Re: Create tracks or paths by using Google Earth
sakura,
GE is actually being used to create a basic map. Meaning it is possible to create track, waypoints etc by GE, then use converter to convert to garmin or other gps formats. The only problem is accuracy as compared to actual ground coordinates (offset). This is critical for ground navigation.
If you intend to contribute, i think mappers here would prefer actual GPS tracklogs with certain quality settings.
