Since you have Built-in GPS receiver.. That means you can active the GPS and open MFM map.
You dun need use Bluetooth. And there is No charges..

hi all,

I brought new E71 lately and installed GMXT in it but I can't load the maps..

I keep getting the msg of "cant unlock maps using unit id XXXXXXXXXX"
but the maps I downloaded is already unlock provided by malfreemaps

what am I missing and what is the problem...

many thanks....

info:
I manage to select to "built in gps" instead of only "bluetooth" in "tools" settings..
I can detect the satellites but the maps just wont load..

I have the following file in my garmin root

gmapbmap.img
gmapprom1.img
gmapsupp.img
gmapbmap.unl
gmapprom1.unl
gmapsupp.unl

am I missing something here?

If you get that message, there must be a locked map residing in the map folder. To isolate the locked map(s), remove all IMG files from that folder, and introduce 1 IMG file at a time and check whether you can start GMXT with the installed map. Try first with MFM's GMAPSUPP.IMG, and then add others later until you get the same error. At this point, you may have identified the locked map. BTW, I believe GMAPPROM1.IMG is not recognized as a valid map file in GMXT.

thx...the problem solved...
the problem is caused by the base map image file..
btw, I would like to ask can I add more maps instead of Malaysia and S'pore and Brunei?
do I have to change the file name like I saw at other website?

If you have other maps, you can name them GMAPPROM.IMG or GMAPSUP2.IMG. These IMG map files, as well as GMAPSUPP.IMG are valid map filenames in GMXT. BTW, since you have removed the locked GMAPBMAP.IMG (I think the content is not really Garmin World basemap), you might want to get another copy here: https://buy.garmin.com/shop/store/downl ... &pID=11413 (Garmin Mobile XT Free Basemap Ver. 4.xx.xx as of Apr 19, 2007).

ok..thx for the info..

I would like to ask..is there any primary or secondary map in GMXT?
like for example:
I now in Malaysia so I use the IMAGE file that is Malaysia maps..
If I go Thailand, and I have Thailand maps as well in my garmin root but with different name eg: gmapsup2.img
do I have to change the name of gmapsup2.img to gmapsupp.img?
or I don't have to do anything, and just run the GMXT on my mobile and it will switch to Thailand maps itself..

Thanks....

u have the option to use the tool (download from MFM link) to combine the maps into the single file then no need to switch here and there anymore..
I combined maps from MFM + Saudi + UAE + Vietnam + Thailand + Indo + Brunei + Philippines and some part of China...
but that also make ur map file huge too..mine almost 300mb liao..
