waze anytime can connecting, you don't bother heavy rain, high building and early morning, just switch on waze straight away connect and 100% real position
if you compare waze and gps device, gps device see weather first good or bad and building blocking or not and not real position sometime.

Waze is good for local use and people with unlimited data plan.

Will incur costs for people who roam ( visitors or u visit outside your country ) or people with cap data / month.

As far as I know, if weather/building hinders satellite reception, using pure telco positioning might not give you precise real position.Especially if you are not on Waze drawn road.

I use it mainly to check traffic jams.

Android "location service" used by Waze comes from any one of these 3 radios/sensors:
1) GPS
2) Cellular Mobile network
3) WiFi network

#2 & #3 "Might have a higher precision in closed rooms then GPS."

Especially noticeable with Foursquare that I use more often in shopping malls than Waze. In such cases, turning on WiFi gives better location in Foursquare.

Caveat, GPS sensors in popular android mobile phone (including Samsung Galaxy S II and III) is much less well designed hence less "sensitive" than Garmin GPS devices.

It's a shame they can't just use Malfreemaps, because great maps already exist. Just not for Waze...

Other than that (and maybe the routing itself) it's pretty good.

One thing I noticed is : I start waze with data in Sgp, upon crossing the border,I disable data,I can continue using waze and wont be charged by telco !

I dont use waze in closed rooms as I see it more for 'on the road'.
But other than closed rooms, as the linked document mentioned:" GPS usually better precision than networks".

They have different strength and usage, IMO

Waze

Have been using it for 2 months now. Its updates on traffic jams, speed trap and cameras have save me some $$$. It even suggest alternative routes to avoid traffic jams.

The down side you need a car charger as it's a battery drainer.
