Nope. GMXT needs Garmin Bluetooth receiver to run. It will not activate your internal GPS.

Download it at Garmin's WEB site.

Huh? I am using GMXT with my Holux 1000C on my 5800 and 5230.

It also works with the 5800 internal GPS - goto Settings-System to choose

What did you do to make it RUN?... If you have bought the GMXT SD Card from Garmin it will run... IF YOU DOWNLOAD AND IT RUNs don't explain how you make it RUN... Forum Rules #6 applies.... :tease:

Can't remember where i got it from - dl some time ago but just installed couple of days ago. Didn't do anything special - just went to Settings and there was an option to Enable/Disable bluetooth gps. Anyway, just wanted to correct the error in your response to TS - in case others read it :tease:

There are no errors in my reply... He asked for downloaded GMXT... see above. The downloaded version will need a Garmin Bluetooth GPS receiver to work.

I only know of two ways to Run GMXT legally namely,

1) Buy the GMXT SD card (no longer sold now) from Garmin. This will allow activation of the unit's internal GPS and or support an external Bluetooth GPS receiver (any brand).

2) Download GMXT from Garmin and use a Garmin Bluetooth GPS receiver.

Do let us know if you have a 3rd Legal option.... thank you.

Please make sure it is downloaded from Garmin before you comment on such issue in an open forum. This is for your own protection.... just my 2 cents.... cheers!

U r confusing the issue. Yr statement is quoted below.

"Nope. GMXT needs Garmin Bluetooth receiver to run. It will not activate your internal GPS."

Isnt that incorrect?

If there r 2 or 3 different versions (who the h..l knows), perhaps u shd hv pointed it out for everyone's benefit instead of making such an unqualified statement.

Peace,

Garmin GMXT is not FREE. If you pay Garmin or its reseller for it then it will work like you mentioned. If you pay someone else.... Please respect our Forum Rules #6.... I'll not be drawn into how it work for you... you know what you have, so make the right decision if you want to tell everyone how it work for you .... Have a great weekend.

So yr response was clearly wrong - but i understand if u r reluctant or too proud to admit it ](*,) so, have a good weekend too

The answer is NO, perhaps they will release a Symbian version in the future.
