Very nice shots.

What's the damage like per person? You went in an organised tour group or plan everything on your own? Would appreciate it you can share with us advice/tips for such a trip. :)

I have been toying with the idea of going to either Nepal or Tibet for some time now. But with Nepal now in political turmoil, it's better to give it a wide berth.

My Tibet trip was organised by AIR CHINA on familiarization trip(FAM Trip.) A low-cost trip or tour offered to travel agents by a supplier or group of suppliers to familiarize the agents with their destination and services.

It cost us under RM3000 per person. 7 Days / 5 Nights.

I am quite Adventurous guy, I am an Offroader, camping in the jungle or road site.
But this Tibet trip I find it quite a Torturing trip of all.

1st, Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS)
2nd, Low Oxygen.

Tibet was at above 3500 meters above sea level which defined as High Altitude. In this High Altitude level, most people at low area will get Altitude Sickness/Mountain Sickness/High Altitude Sickness High Altitude Sickness is the biggest health risk, and together with the decreasing of Oxygen which can be fatal (dead.)
This happen to one of the participate member from our group. He past away on 2nd day in Tibet.

If you plan to visit TIBET. get as FIT and HEALTHYas possible, both physically and psychologically. Going TIBET is like DIVING
But diving can go up to surface just to yell Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..
But in TIBET... something happen, it take you 90 minute to Airport.... waiting for the next flight out to low land..

You can visit Tibet in Big or Small group, And you can go as tour or Free n Easy..
Everything can be pre-arrange, (Air line, Foods, Hotels or local guide)

So, in other words, uncle like me even FIY and HEALTHY, also quite risky to go on Tibet tour ? So, my plan of travelling from Qinghai to Tibet by the world's highest train will remain a dream ! ](*,)

I went there more than 10 years ago.. in a small private group of 8...

out of the 9 days we were there, 6 terrible days of severe headaches, panting of breath, cannot sleep, cannot eat properly.. :ko:

went into a hospital, uncemented floors with nurses wearing stained uniforms.
I made sure my friend sees that the needle used to gave me a drip was boiled..
the oxygen filled plastic with a tube din help.. :ko:

Lhasa on arrival was ok, once we leave to go to the mountains, it was really bad.. the elevation is too much for my system.. luckily only 2 affected..

so I have nice looking pics of Lhasa only, the rest of the tour, I was almost dead..
I cannot even get out of the vehicle to see the scenery, trying to use sleep to overcome my misery ...

my advice, go young, go healthy, go soon....
and before you go.. go exercise everyday to prepare for the trip... :peace:

oh.. Tibet is really BEAUTIFUL....
