Shopping for an e-Book

Postby moeyhc » Mon Dec 27, 2010 9:01 pm

Greetings.... Happy New Year!

I'm looking for an eBook reader. I have tested the Amazon Kindle and Sony but found them too expensive and without colors. Searching the NET yields the following models.

7" Models
- Benns (本色) BX-99 and BX-81. Shop Here
- Hyundai (韩国现代) SF-107.
- Gemei (歌美) GM2000.
- ViewSonic (优派) MB-P702. See the last 3 HERE.

Anyone here have used the above models? Appreciate your comments. My other problem is that these Chinese sites requires buyer to be registered as member before purchases can be made. I don't read Chinese... and couldn't get past the registration process with Google Translate. #-o

Thank you for your help.

Bro aikliang,

Thanks for the recommendation on the Android Tablet. I have considered it during the initial search but could not find one with battery life longer than 5 hours of reading. Most will do 4 hours or less. It is rather useless for reading books during long flight as the battery is built-in (only the newer Airbus 340 comes with an on seat AC outlet).

Even the above eBook (or multi function media player) are spec to last ~8 hours. Only the real e-ink eBook gives about 30-40 hours of reading time but they are expensive and can only function as an eBook. I was in Beijing 2 weeks ago and they were offering Android system @<RM500.00... for a 8.9'' screen....

Cheers... Happy New Year
