A bit of confusion for cars travelling from Bukit Timah/Rochor/Bugis area using Ophir Road heading towards ECP (Changi).

Cars coming down Ophir Road flyover heading for ECP are generally travelling at relatively high speed. There are 2 ramps, one going right to ECP (Tuas) and one going left to ECP (Changi).

Unfortunately, when you are heading towards ECP (Changi), the warning actually goes something like this "TAKE RAMP RIGHT" followed shortly by "KEEP LEFT". If you are not familiar with this area, you will find yourself in the right ramp towards ECP (Tuas) and there is no way to switch to the left lanes by the time you hear the "KEEP LEFT" warning. I believe the "TAKE RAMP RIGHT" comes on to indicate you should not exit left into Republic Boulevard.

My suggestion, if it is possible, is to remove the "TAKE RAMP RIGHT", leaving just the KEEP LEFT warning, which should be sufficient. Even better still if the "KEEP LEFT" warning comes on much earlier. I don't think cars will exit into Republic Boulevard if you do not tell them to "EXIT LEFT".

One related suggestion I have is whether we should rename our Expressways ECP (East) and ECP (West) or ECP (Changi) and ECP (Tuas). This will definitely help us when the two exits are close to one another.

Was trying to go to 488 Changi Road Singapore 419898 from Hougang Mall last Sat. Didn't manage to find the exact address from MFM map. So used the closest match that GPS could find "472 Changi Road Singapore 419890".

Thought it shouldn't be too far from 488 so set the GPS to go to 472. After drove for awhile, and realized that system was trying to bring me to no way ... :-? :frus:

What is the best thing I should do if I can't find the address that I want? Just use the main road and find the exact address myself?

Hi, I was travelling along North Buona Vista Drive and noticed it asked me to turn right, but it is a turn left only road. The only way is to turn left and make a u-turn shortly ahead. Also, the roads at Biomedical Grove have been extended [to One North Link] and connects more directly to Portsdown road [Refer to http://www.streetdirectory.com/asia_tra ... el_site_1/].

Are we able to edit the maps ourselves?

Hi,

I just got my hands of a non-SG/MY Garmin 255W and am using Malfreemaps on it. Here's a few items I hope can be used to improve Malfreemaps. I am currently running on the '091221' maps.

1. The non-SG/MY Garmin 255W is able to speak out the road names and it seems to pronounce 'Yio Chu Kang Road' incorrectly. An example is, it says 'Turn Left on Y.I.O. Chu Kang Road'; as in it spells out Y I O instead of pronouncing it as one word Yio. It is able to pronounce 'Kio' properly (as in 'Ang Mo Kio') so I was wondering if anything could be done to make the Garmin 255W speak out 'Yio' properly.

2. In the 1st screenshot, routing shows a U-turn at the Holland Road / Holland Avenue juction N1 18.720 E103 47.760 that cannot be performed. Travelling westwards on Holland Road, you are only allowed to make a left turn into Holland Avenue or carry on westwards on Holland Road.

3. In the 2nd screenshot, I've put a waypoint on 177 Countryside Road (N1 23.230 E103 50.392). If I want to route to or from the west (e.g. to Upper Thomson Road), the Garmin will route via Lentor Drive (at the junction N1 23.041 E103 50.236) with a right turn onto Yio Chu Kang Road. As driving onto Lentor Drive involves climbing up a small hill and then descending from it, it is actually faster to route via Lentor Road then to turn right onto Yio Chu Kang Road (at the Lentor Road / Yio Chu Kang Road junction N1 23.165 E103 50.360). Is there anyway to update the map to make Yio Chu Kang Road prefered over Lentor Drive?

Best regards,
James
