    5. Enable custom icon for Nuvi 765, 1460, etc (for Garmin 765 and Garmin 1xxx series)

    9. Large POI Icons (Display Large Icons in GPS Device)

Yes, then gmapsupp.img is created in "C:\Garmin\Malfreemaps" (you may copy this file to others unit/SD Card after installation)

  4. MFM gmapsupp.img has been created. (Do u want to send this map to U unit/SD Card Now)
    Image
If Yes, please select your Nuvi drive {"F:" or "G:"}. Map must save within the "Garmin" folder. For example, "F:\Garmin"
P/S: Garmin 1xxx series the "gmapsupp.img" can be change to any names as you like and put in your's device drive {"F:" or "G:"} "Map" folder. FYI don't put 2 same map with difference name, it will hang and PC can't re-connect it agian
It takes a while to transfer your map into your Nuvi or SD card.
    Image
Please wait until the "Process Completed" message is displayed before disconnecting your Nuvi or removing your SD card to avoid damage to your Nuvi or SD card.

Uploading MFM-Garmin using Mapsource

  1. Select MFM-Garmin Map Tiles
      Please set Zoom to 500KM
    1. Click on Map Tool Icon
    2. Move your mouse cursor to the bottom right of the map as indicated by "Start Here"
    3. Press and hold your left mouse button then drag your mouse towards the top left corner as indicated by "End Here"
      Image
    4. As you drag your mouse, the map outlines will turn to yellow. Map tiles will turn into pink once you completed Step 3.
      Image
    5. MFM-Garmin map have 31 map tiles. It is recommended that you select all of them.
      Image
    6. Make sure "Include route Calculation Data" is checked (If you don't tick this then the map can't do routing)
Some of time the "Include route Calculation Data" option is greyed out but don't worry. Just ignore it and proceed with map transfer.

      Image
    7. You can opt to exclude our polygon maps. Without the polygon maps, map display is less attractive and informative but screen refresh rate will be faster. It is recommended that you omit polygon maps if you are using Mobile XT on older mobile phones or earlier Garmin devices.
      Image
    8. Topo maps are also optional. You can delete it if you want
      Image
    9. If you want complete coverage of Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei, you should select a minimum of 14 maps

      Image
  3. Renaming the mapset (optional)
    1. Mapsource will name your mapset automatically. If you want to rename it, follow the steps below
    2. Click on Map Set name
      Image
    3. Untick Autoname
      Image
    4. Type the New MapSet name
      Image
    5. Verify the New MapSet name
      Image
  4. Send maps to device
    1. If you have just bought a new Garmin device, or your Garmin device is uploaded with another map, it is strongly recommended that you back up your original maps before starting the map transfer
      Image
To back up, make a new sub-folder in Garmin Folder & move all files to new sub-folder
      Image
    2. Please click on "Send to Device"
      Image
    3. Select the correct drive. MapSource will auto copy to "Garmin" Folder
      Image
    4. Wait for Mapsource to finish the transfer
      Image

Postby fancheng » Sun Sep 20, 2009 6:17 pm

Turn off U-turn avoidance for better route guidance

For Nuvi Serial (Tools -> Settings -> Navigation -> Avoidances -> untick "U-Turns")
Image

For Mobile XT (Tools -> Settings -> Routing -> Avoidances -> untick "U-Turns")

Hi,
First and foremost, tq for this useful web and forum.

I have actually transfered all map file to my garmin xt. After installing it, I have a problem to search using 'address'. It's only appear 3 state in my list i.e Brunei, Sabah and Sarawak.

Can any sifu/other experience members explain what is going on? Please advice what should I do.

Thanks in advance.

Regards
