How many maps can I add to my Garmin devices?

To combine several maps into a Garmin-recognizable map file, use Gmaptool or upload your maps using Mapsource.

Hi..newbies here...can guide me in details on how to combine maps using wgmaptools...tried everything...i'm gmaptools illiterate... ...

Got a couple of questions:

1. Can I make maps of different regions and put it in my garmin? if possible how

2. I notice that POI is combine together in gmapsupp.img file and can it be separated?

I assume you meant combining several GMAPSUPP.IMG map files (into 1 single GMAPSUPP.IMG) for use in Garmin device. Follow these steps:

Combining Maps in GMapTool:

1. Run GMapTool, Add files to be combined. Files will be listed accordingly.
2. Click Join tab to switch to Join page, browse and enter target directory and filename (ie. C:/gmapsupp.img, make sure you use different folder than the source GMAPSUPP.IMG). Enter a new mapset name for the combined map, if none entered, "Gmaptool All" will be used as the joined mapset name, instead (optional).
3. Click Join All button below to execute command.
4. Finally copy the joined GMAPSUPP.IMG into \Garmin folder of Garmin device.

Thanks...how about splitting the gmapsupp.img file into several mapset so that I can deactivate the map whenever I don't want to use it. The activated map will only be the maps that I used for travelling.

In Nuvi, if Map ID of one of the mapset has been changed, both MFM and MSM can be used in device. But for GMXT this is not possible, there will be some conflict especially when performing address search (at least in one of the mapset).

You don't need to split GMAPSUPP.IMG, individual maps in combined mapsets can still be enabled/disabled in device.

Yes, use GMapTool's Split command first.

Just to add, bro Ant... the Nuvi 300 series also support the gmapprom1.img filename. I have four different maps in my 310's internal memory and one in my external SD card.

Just wondering how to i put in more map into my 5800? Is it limited to only 2 maps?
