Re: How to activate 1-sec tracklog on N2x0(W), 2x5(W), 7x0 & 7x5
If you want to save the tracks into the SD card, then you need to patch the nuvi. The 'easter egg' method onlys saves files into the nuvi.
mfm : magnificent free maps

I think it is a much safer proposition to save logs into the SD card rather than to risk corrupting or wearing out the internal memory which you cannot easily replace. Of course if a patch is not available for your HWID, the easter egg method is better than nothing.

Hi Guys,
Enjoy it while you can but don't expect this feature to be available to you forever.
Remember what happened to those with 2x0 units on firmware v3.40? Very soon, they were induced to update to a latest version and *poof*, the hidden feature was gone and they could not revert to the earlier v3.40 fw version. Don't be surprised that this will happen to the 205s and the 2x0s with the glamour menu. If you value the track log feature, you should uninstall the Webupdater.

Good news and no need to patch if you have newer units with Where Am I screen.
emmexx wrote:Enter "Where am I" (from the tools menu or clicking on the arrow icon on the navigation map)
then click in the following order on:
1. Nearest (of Nearest Junction)
2. Nearest (of Nearest Address)
3. Address (of Nearest Address)
4. Junction (of Nearest Junction)
Bingo!
If you make a mistake you must exit the "Where am I" menu and start again.

Please include Nuvi 5X0, the is method works with the Nuvi 5X0.

Re: How to activate 1-sec tracklog on N2x0(W), 2x5(W), 7x0 & 7x5
Not trying to rain on anyone's parade. Just like to point out that shorter interval tracklogs don't automatically equate to higher degree of accuracy.
Shorter interval gives better resolution. So at turns and winding roads, it reflects the nature of the road better. How close that tracked road is to representing the actual positions on the ground depends on a GPSr's built-in capabilities, the number of satellites it is able to receive at the time of tracking, etc.
For instance, different maps will show my own favourite POIs to be on one side of the road or another. Tracing the road in MapSource and then displaying it in Google Earth can show a difference. It could explain why at times the car icon jumps to the other side of the road, driving straight yet the road is displayed not at the 12 o'clock but slightly to the left/right, the GPSr overshooting a junction even when we take the turn slowly, etc. (These only exhibit when the Fastest Time or Shortest Distance modes are selected, not Off Road where the unit is not forced to 'stick' to a mapped road)
Not a criticism - after all, the maps still function effectively. But it indicates that we always have room for improvement.
