Custom POI download - Toll Plazas (ver 2.0) - 25/4/09

Postby stratman2 » Sun Apr 12, 2009 12:27 am

Major updates to my previous Toll Plaza custom POI!

Purpose:

Alerts you to toll plazas in your path so that you don't have to fumble for your wallet or Touch 'N Go card at the last moment.

Features:

- New: Covers all known toll plazas in Peninsular Malaysia
- New: Includes waypoints with three types of proximity alerts: 2km and 1km alerts (line of sight distance from the toll plaza) and a generic alert placed on entry ramps leading to toll plazas.
- Alerts you only once when the waypoints are passed.
- Choice of MP3, WAV and original GPS tone (GMXT, eTrex users and those of you who prefer the default sound should use the GMXT version. Nuvi 200-series users should use the WAV format).
- Unidirectional alert (not bi-directional)

Caveats:

- If you have my TnG reload plaza cPOI in your Garmin GPS, I would recommend that you remove it. This cPOI may clash with the proximity alerts of the TnG cPOI.

- The previous custom POI was named "MFM-Toll Plaza Alerts (xxx).gpi" and if you have previously installed this into your GPS unit, please delete it from your device too. Otherwise you will have duplicate POIs.

- Due to the very small radius "virtual milestones" you may sometimes not receive an alert. It depends on the accuracy of your GPS at the time you're traveling over the alert points and also if your vehicle passes the trigger spots precisely. The milestones are made as small as possible as to avoid giving false alerts when you're travelling from the opposite direction.

- Toll plazas that are within short line-of-sight visual range (usually less than 400m) don't have any alerts.

Hope you find this update useful as I spent a lot of time and effort on this one. :champ:

Thanks Fauzee. Believe me, it's more fun driving around and track logging. Sitting hours behind a laptop with a 14" screen doing these cPOIs is tiring. :ko:
