Driving on (roadname) instead of (roadname) Ahead.

Postby jeremy747 » Tue Jul 07, 2009 11:59 am

Hi,

I noticed that when my Nuvi is not navigating, it now displays the current road I am driving on at the top in the format "Driving on (roadname)".

It used to display the name of the next intersecting road which was very useful : "(roadname) ahead".

Was there change in the way the maps are coded or can i change this on my nuvi 255W?

Thanks

These is the common issue with all the garmin device, there no way you can have the on the road name while navigating

Hi bro jeremy747,

On my 205W too, when NOT navigating, it shows the current road you're on. It couldn't 'guess' where you would want to turn off, hence it doesn't show what the next intersection is.

Yo Zamad,

I used to have a Nuvi 750 which when NOT navigating, it would show the name of every road that crossing the road that I was currently driving on.

I am not sure if my Nuvi 255W is wired up to work differently.

I will test on my garmin mobile XT and see if it is any different.

I will also check my old 750 and see whether this is due to the way the new maps are done.

Will post more after I do some homework.

I put the latest MSM map into an old Nuvi 260W and while NOT NAVIGATING, it does tell you what is the next upcoming intersecting road on the top of the screen.

Going to reset my 255W to factory settings tomorrow and see if there is any changes.

I tried my 255W after a factory settings reset and also on my Garmin Mobile XT, both shows the current road you are driving on when NOT NAVIGATING.

200W still shows the name of the next intersecting road instead of the current road. Quite a handy feature actually, don't know why garmin did away with it for the new interface.
