Touch 'n Go card

Postby ace » Fri Dec 25, 2009 10:55 pm

This is something that I find pretty ridiculous.....

I have a Touch 'n Go card that I did not use for a year and recently I found that I can't used it anymore and when I wrote to the organisation... this is what I received in reply...

"Once a card is deactivated, an administration deactivation fee of RM5.00 will be imposed. The fee is deducted from the last card balance during reactivation of the card. In the event of a deactivated card continues to remain inactive, a maintenance fee of RM5.00 will be charged and deducted from the said deposit or unutilized card balance once every six (6) months. We will stop charging maintenance fee when the card is reactivated, returned for refund or until the deposit and card balance is depleted. "

This is like robbery....a storecard card with a year validity and you lose more value every 6 months.

Hold your horses there.

It is the same thing I experienced with some of my prepaid cards in the UK, US, Hong Kong and Japan. Even my loyalty points from major international airlines and hotel chains (including those from Singapore) have a validity period.

All UK banks charge deducts a monthly maintenance fee from the balance in your account. So if your account is not active, the deductions will continue until the balance is depleted.

So the practise is not isolated to Malaysia.

Shame on you.

If you don't like it, there are other alternatives....

To the thread creator, why is it so ridiculous when it is perfectly acceptable and common practise elsewhere, even in Singapore.

My Singtel prepaid card bought 6 months ago with at least SGD90 balance in it is now worth ziltch.

Not if you're driving into Malaysia from Singapore.

Why not?

Don't use Touch-n-Go.

Pay cash.

But I'm sure you know what I mean.

It happened to me last year, no choice so pay lor...

I was told to use once a year (even better every 6 months) before expiry date, so that they won't deactivate your card.

I agree with ace... that is very very ridiculous! That tng project and company belongs to 1 of our formal minister. Thats also a reason why other electronic toll pay system like better than tng like fasttrack was banned.

Other banks and telco in singapore, hong kong etc also ridiculous. The rich only interested to find ways to suck our hard earn money.

But 1 thing I want to compliment Singapore gov and HK gov. The government had made sure their tax payer money well spend and goes back to the public. Public transport, park. Independent body of juridical and anti dirty greed etc

But in the bolehland, our money are well made profit by certain group. The anti dirty greed officer/investigators are immune from being charge in court, up to what extend I dont know. And they only work for certain group of people.

The gov appoint U company to build our highway by loan, and the highway toll MUST increase by every n year interval. Although gov do not approve sometime, but the disapproved period our gov must pay its compensation with our tax payer monies. > 50% share belongs our gov and listed in the share market. Every year the company made their profit, and dividen should pay back to the gov. But to where the deviden being spend?

Earlier our fuel price went up to 2.70/litre, and gov claim that they reduce the subsidy. And the subsidy saved will spend wisely to improve our public transportation. But until today the taxi fare meter problem still not solved. Bought 2nd hand 20 years old locomotive engine with billions of ringgit and top speed only 80km/h. :peace:

And alot alot more. So ace, in bright side, thanks for informing us the hidden clause by tng company. If you are not a frequent user of that device and service. Might as well sell it to other that use it frequent.
