It has always been free, isn't it? The software is pre-installed on almost all recent Nokia phones with GPS, and the maps can be downloaded free on your PC using Map Loader. You only need to pay for routing, and even so, you have a few days of free trial.

D'oh! Alamak... Sua-ku here, lah. All this while I had thought that even downloading the maps for viewing and reference was a paid service; a license had to be purchased. Seems it has been free since the service was made available!

It may be free, but their local maps for instance, are still not as updated as the one we have here...

Btw, NOKIA Maps via Ovi(with a selection of voice-prompt guidance, traffic updates along with all other features) for certain older phones like the E71 is now available for free.

I switched camp liao to Sony Ericson..haha..dunno their wisepilot's Navteq maps free or not
