TNB cut manpower ?

Postby johnTan » Tue Sep 27, 2011 2:02 am

Nowadays, TNB send their man to my house to check the meter reading 2 month once.
During the month they never come, they'll just sent me the electricity's bill by post with "Estimate" meter reading !!
the New Tariff Rates first 200 KWh will be 21.8sen, after that next 100kWH and Next 100kWH and the rate will be increased, ... meaning to say use more pay more loh !
They are so smart, one month come check reading another one month don't come, just estimate loh..
when they come, they calculation is "SEMASA" reading minus "DAHALU" which is 2 month ago one , then got the total kWh for 2 month I used. use the Tariff rates calculation get the 2 month total bills,
after get the Total bills, then minus Last month what I paid which just estimated,
Finally, they get my electricity's bill for current month ! :champ: Malaysia's BOLEH !!

Bro,
I'm no TNB staff nor any family members from TNB. Its true that they come and read my meter on alternate months but as you can see the total units are calculated base on first 200 unit @ 0.218 and subsequent unit @ 0.334 so if they total up 2 months its calculated base on first 400 unit @ 0.218 and subsequent unit @ 0.334. I dont see any problem here. If someone can pinpoint to me where has the calculation gone wrong plz let me know coz I'm not that good at maths. Maybe we can go together and shout at the TNB officers

Wah! Like that lagi untung lor. If I use 300 units in the first month and 100 units in the second month, then I will pay cheaper rate using the bi-monthly reading calculation. (PS: I also no connection with TNB hor.)

Bro,
You try and see lo whether untung or not. :tease: As I notice thats what I've been charge this month 400@0.218 187@0.334. Total rm149.66 minus estimated rm77.00(last month). I've paid RM72.66 this month. FrancisTLim plz calculate for me see if I've paid too much. Let me know if you find any inaccuracy maybe I can claim back from TNB :peace:

So two months total you use 587 units. You paid 77+72.66=149.66

I don't know your actual usage for first and second month. But if (Example only lah) it is as follows.
First month you use 390 units.
Second month you use 197 units.
If they use monthly reading, then you will have to pay
200@0.218+190@0.334 for first month
197@0.218 for second month.
Total you pay 150.01

So you save RM0.35 lor.

Their calculation is correct. Only thing is that in this example, they undercharge you by RM0.35, so you should not claim back, but instead you have to give them the RM0.35 extra. Hahaha!!

FrancisTLim.

Hi chefmun,
your calculation is correct ! that's why I called "Very smart", cut manpower = cut cost strategic
but if you consider the usage the monthly at lower 120KWh,
Let's example:
Sep'11 Total usage 110KWh
Oct'11 Total Usage 90 KWh 2 month total usage = 200KWh

TNB calculation:
Sep'11 Estimate usage 105 KWh, Estimate bill = RM22.90
Oct'11 TNB come check meter, 2 month Total usage = 200KWh
So Total 200KWh x 0.218 = RM 43.6, so Oct'11 bill is RM43.6-Last month bill (RM22.90) = RM20.7.
2 month Total bill = RM43.60.

Actual calculation:
Sep'11 Total usage 110KWh, bill = RM24.
Oct'11 Total usage 90KWh, Bill = RM19.60 [No need to pay, because less than RM20]
2 month Total bill = RM24.

Can you see the different ?

No lah, your example above can work both ways, so must also give the other direction also to be fair. It is shown below.

Example:
Sep'11 Total usage 100KWh
Oct'11 Total Usage 100KWh 2 month total usage = 200KWh

TNB calculation:
Sep'11 Estimate usage 90 KWh, Estimate bill = RM19.60 [No need to pay, because less than RM20]
Oct'11 TNB come check meter, 2 month Total usage = 200KWh
So Total 200KWh x 0.218 = RM 43.6, so Oct'11 bill is RM43.6-Last month bill (RM19.60) = RM24.
2 month Total bill = RM24.

Actual calculation:
Sep'11 Total usage 100KWh, bill = RM21.80.
Oct'11 Total usage 100KWh, Bill = RM21.80
2 month Total bill = RM43.60.

So, in your case (taking into consideration no need to pay because less than RM20), it can work both ways, so average out the whole country, should be break even.
Regards,
FrancisTLim.
