Ya. The good one is Ah Guan. If you're there on weekends, you can tell immediately. Ah Guan very busy, the other one busy chasing flies. :-({|=

Dunno exactly when he opens but usually after my Char Kuay Teow fix, he is already open. Opens till evening but if you're there on weekends, better call to book (016)4093701. Many orders up to 100 pieces also got. :ko:

ok, that is know to me as ban chien koay, and I didn't know Penang is also famous for that. Will try it on my next trip.

There is a really good one in Singapore, at the Food Centre, next to Heartland Mall (Upper Serangooon Road/Hougang). It is the thick crust type and there is always a queue.

I usually go there in the afternoons after 2. Last Friday, when I went to Ah Guan, there were 60 pieces before my turn. His wok can do only 9 pieces per time.

Will try this next trip down to Singapore. Can I safely assume there is only one stall selling this?

Jalan Burma - I think it will be on my way to Gurney Drive when up north for St Anne (staying somewhere in Gurney area). Will try it then and compare with the one in Singapore.

In that hawker centre, it's the only one. Now that market is under renovation, not sure if there is a temporary market where he is operating. Anyone know ? :-k

Nowadays, people, especially the kids just buy ah pong from Jollibean, their ah pongs are rolled into bite size, easier to eat and the fillings won't drop everywhere.

Somehow I still prefer the traditionally ah pongs, big thick and messy \:D/

Maybe we have Ah Pong gathering in Singapore

The shape of Ah Pong is smaller than Tosai (Indian Ah Pong if I can call it). It was quite popular in KL but now I guess it went into "extinction". :(

Ban Chien Koay (BCK) is entirely different (it's like comparing apple and orange hahahaaa...) BCK is much thicker and it has sesame seeds sprayed inside. =P~
BCK is still existjng in Pasar Pagi, Pasar Malam.

But my favorite is Mua Chi - very popular in Penang and Malacca. It's picking up in KL in shopping complexes :)

I am staying near the hawker centre. It is currently undergoing renovation and most, if not all, of the hawker stalls are temporarily relocated at a temporary site (see attached pic). I don't even know if this food stall you are talking about has shifted there as I seldom buy my food from this hawker centre. That there is a good Ban Chien Kuay stall there is news to me.

Commonly found in Pasar Pagi and Pasar Malam in KL would be:
Ban Chien Kuay =P~
Yew Char Kuay
Harm Chim Pang
Tau Sah Pang (not Pow)
:)
But I yearn for:
Mua Chi (nearest to KL is found in Jonker Street, Malacca) :(
Lek Tow Suan(aiyoooo... have to go to Sinagpore to get it... popular in Singapore I was told).
The above tit bits are good for breakfast and afternoon tea time. =D>
