the stress test is only an indication. I do my medical every 2 years due to my age at Assunta Hospital in PJ.

According to the doctor, the stress test is only about 70% accurate and only test your heart for any abnormalities. It does not indicate whether your arteries are clog or not. One of my colleagues husband went for a check-up, the full job and had an attack a few days later. She told me that when the doctor operated on her husband, his arteries was about 50% block... very scary.

My doctor mentioned a test, can't remember exactly what it was called or how it works but if my failing memory serves me correctly, roughly it is something like MRI scan where they shoot a mild radioactive liquid or something like that into your body and as it travels round, they are able to see your veins properly. But the cost was something like $ 2 -3,000.00 about 5 years ago.

But then we live on God's will. When He calls us, we have to go. No ifs no buts.

hi,

Wish to tell a true story here... :-'
This happens in somewhere, where 2 patients so happen got cancer, 1 poor guy and 1 rich man.
So, as expected, the poor guy didn't go for any operations or any medical treatment, but eat fresh fruits, vege, and without sugar and meats.
Well, d rich man of course will go for medical treatment.
5 years later, the poor guy still alive, but the rich man already "bye bye"

Just my 2 cents...

It is known as Cardiac MRI. if you want to know the procedure, this is what I went through.

First, they inserted a needle into a vein, and connect it to a tap which is taped to the top of your palm. Then they injected this "dye" into my system via the tap. This "dye' will show your system more prominent during MRI.

Once enough of this "dye" has been pumped into the system, I went onto the treadmill. They needed to get my heartbeat up to a certain rate so that the "dye" was well circulated into my system. For whatever reasons that you are unable to get your heatbeat up to required rate, they will artificially inject some chemicals to achieve the result.

Once the desired heartbeat was attained, you needed to rest until your heart was back to normal before they put you into the MRI machine.

The MRI took about 15 mins but you are not done. I could go for lunch and do whatever with the tap still taped on my palm because they repeated the same test in the afternoon. After that then they removed all the stuffs on my body.

The MRI was almost a painless process, but worry of a negative outcome during the wait for the result was a killer. Because the hospital staff tells you something like "Your review is in four months time, if we call you anytime earlier, it may not be good news" #-o .....knnbccb

No call came until it was time for the review and I was given a clean bill of health............for now O:)

Congratulations!... on your clean bill of health.

What prompted the investigation? Good to know if a healthy person should request for such test. If yes, how often?.. cheers!
