I dunno izzit wrong if i post this here , if this topic offend MFM ....plzz delete this topic , i just cant believe myself after i read this news so i decided to post it here. Question is , how they do this ?? can Mfm do this too ??

Garmin Announces Agreement with Malsingmaps to Preload and Distribute Garmin Compiled Malsingmaps

Taipei/Mar 12, 2009 - Garmin Corporation (Garmin) is licensed under the agreement with Malsingmaps to the non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable use of the Malaysia and Singapore maps published on www.malsingmaps.com. And Garmin has authorized use to compile the licensed materials to produce official Garmin maps for Malaysia and Singapore and to preload the compiled maps on Garmin GPS units, and to distribute the compiled maps. Therefore, Garmin will preload the compiled maps in nüvi 255W Sing/Mal version and other Garmin GPS units without extra charge to users. Garmin will also distribute the compiled maps without charge to users* no later April 2009 via official Garmin website (www.garmin.com.sg). The compiled maps will be made available to the Malsingmaps community by end of April on Malsingmaps.com.

In terms of the agreement, Malsingmaps retains exclusive ownership, right of authorship, copyright and title to the licensed materials. Garmin has no right, title or interest in the licensed materials and makes no warranty as to the accuracy or completeness of the licensed materials. And throughout the term of the agreement, Malsingmaps shall provide updated licensed materials, and every due care has been taken that the licensed materials do not infringe any third party intellectual property rights.

*The compiled maps will be available to either
1) Localized nüvi models sold through Garmin authorized dealers:

I agree, we learn a lot of GPS information from the articles on this blog.

For example, only today that I knew that the intermediate format popularly known as “mp file” used by many GPS mappers is actually in a text format. :shock:

Yes... Now I also know that other site has "bogus mapper" who won't stop to copy MFM data and provide it to Big "G". :thumbsdown:
