I like to see both functionality and capability of 60CSx combine with the GUI interface of Oregon... Then it will be PERFECT!!!

No qwerty keyboard.
Tot this would be a simple process to update in OS but nothing happened.
Also battery access should have been easier like a mobile phone.

Re: What you don't like about your Garmin device?
The number one thing I don't like about our Garmin device is its handling of situations where the GPS signal is lost e.g. when entering tunnel. The device dies on you, and you are totally helpless. The screen shows nothing but "Lost Satellite Connection". You try to see which exit you were supposed to take but it's not on the screen anymore. You press to preview the route you were supposed to take and the device tells you "No route available". What the heck?
This is still the case with Garmin devices, as far as I know. I am not sure if newer Garmins have implemented some sort of solution. Of course, I am well aware that in the absence of relatively expensive systems such as gyroscopes and the like, GPS devices cannot work in situations where there is no GPS signal. I need to put this line because invariably, someone will want to point this out. But I am NOT asking for all these. I am asking for a simple solution which can and has been implemented by some other vendors.
Some time back, I used a basic TomTom GPS software on my PDA and I was surprised by its "tunnel projection" feature. It's no rocket science. Basically, when I entered CTE and the signal is lost, there was a screen prompt telling me "signal lost" followed by entering into "simulation mode" and the screen went into "grey" display. Essentially, the device was simply continuing to simulate my journey using the route I was supposed to take and presumably based my last speed. Of course, this simulated positioning is not going to be very accurate, but at least it is better than nothing. At least, it tells you which exit you are supposed to take. If not, do you exit at Cairnhill Circle, Havelock or drive all the way till the end?
I read that TomTom has in fact now enhanced this feature into something called "Enhanced Positioning Technology". While their earlier implementation was based simply on the projected route, this new feature apparently makes use of your current speed and heading. I have no idea how it works but you can read all about it here: http://www.gpsmagazine.com/2009/02/tomt ... p?page=4#7
There are users who dislike this EPT feature. When they are stuck in the tunnel, the system continues to simulate the journey and they could not stop it. But I suppose a simple Pause or Stop button would solve this problem. Anyway, it is better than nothing.
When I did some research, I realised that Garmin StreetPilot used to have some sort of dead reckoning feature. But, like I said, I don't need anything sophisticated. At the very least, when GPS signal is lost, I just want Garmin to allow the display of the last route, or the next exit/turn to take. And not take away everything, and leave me stranded with nothing. Present implementation by Garmin actually requires you to note and remember every next turn or exit, before you enter every tunnel. Or you will be stranded.

An option to change file names will be much appreciated.... Than we can just select any map to use....cheers!

I believe the new Nuvis allow the use of any filename, as long as the files end with .img and are in "Map" folder.
But I supposed you are referring to the lack of "Windows Explorer" or "File Manager" function in the Nuvis?

Too many variations of what could be a simple piece of hardware.
I feel sad that Antyong retired - Mapping Community should not be taken advantage off...use http://www.waze.com it's payback time
Re: What you don't like about your Garmin device?
Saw the amoled screen on Omnia 2. It is very clear and colorful. Putting the screen side-by-side with a nuvi, you can easily see the difference. The black is really black and the other colors are much deeper. Whereas the nuvi screen, the colors looked faded as you turn up the light level. Wish my nuvi and Oregon have such screens.
