hopefully my question as i describes here are appropriate in this post.

can i know any application which may help me to create custom alerts or info as like the GPI Creator ?
i am too poor to get the applicationas it costs USD 500 :( its way too expansive.

or any programmers here which may help me to describe the strings ? if there are, i could help u guys to create the string creator for the application.

i juz bought used nuvi 205w and have some questions here :
a) how to update firmware,mapsource and other softwares?
b) is it necessary to update regularly?if not what happen?

b) is it necessary to update regularly?if not what happen? If by regularly you meant weekly, then it is not necessary. But you still need to update the maps on a regular basis (once a month?) to keep you current.

if the firmware is old version can it support the latest map version??

Don't worry. Most everyone started as a newbie... I think your present firmware should support the current maps. Why don't you try and see for yourself?
