gmpc is more of a software for ppl who uses a carpc. or for the co pilots. not really for someone who wishes to use it on a laptop... unless u use some contraption to hold it firmly... otherwise.... u'll need to park ur car first before u can use it :)

forum.audiopce.com for more info... (malaysia's only carpc forum so far)

It's also good for those micro laptops too.

Got to test run the GMPC 5.00.30 on the Portege M600 just now, on a short trip to Shah Alam. It sat nicely at the corner of the co-driver side of the MPV dashboard (good rubber feet :) ).

The graphics was good. So was the satellite tracking. But after the 'turn instruction' 2D map display went on, the graphics for the 3D map froze! My co-pilot :frus: had to press <ESC> then <F11> to reactivate the 3D map. On the return leg, I disabled the 'Turn Instruction'... and the 3D map dispaly never hung. Anyone experienced this?

To use on XP, you can also extract TTS Anna from MS Street & Trip 2009 Trial. Vista do not need to install as it comes with it.

MS Speech SDK 5.1 will also install Mary TTS which is also detected in GMPC but between the 2, I find Anna (newer development than Mary) sounds more natural and less robotic even though Anna sound muffled at times.

Anyone can confirm the number of customed POIs files or categories GMPC support?

I once had issue with proximity alerts not working until I remember some posting on limit for other dedicate Garmin GPRs. Thinking the same might apply, I removed some less frequently used POIs to resolve. Can't remember if it was 10 or 12 POIs files or categories (some POI file have multiple categoies) remaining before it work.

Hope to see more discussion on GMPC.
