Latest firmware updates for 1490T
released 30 June 2010

Changes made from version 4.20 to 4.40:

* Added Loc8 Postal Code functionality for Ireland.
* Corrected issue that could cause unit to remain stuck on copyright screen.
* Corrected issue that could cause unexpected shutdown when satellite reception is temporarily lost.

Just received my 1490 yesterday from Amazon and am using the latest maps from MFM. The unit works solidly so far with no issues. I can confirm that POIs are not appearing when in navigation mode but I can see the POIs when exploring the maps.

Of course its running on the latest available firmware (V4.4).

Absolutely love the huge screen. BTW, any way to remove the information panels on the right of the screen when navigating? I would prefer the map to take up the whole screen.

Thanks in advance.

Been using my unit for a while, yes I love the big screen. When i put back my 255W to use, i get a shock with the screen size difference.

The MSM maps also tend to draw thicker roads on the already smaller 255w screen.
The 1490 on the other hand draws thinner roads and shows more on the screen.

Only thing as most of have mentioned is the non display of POI.

I also noticed that the unit takes a couple of seconds to load and display additional map space when you zoom out. Example, when i quickly zoom out, there will be blank squares of surrounding area which will take about 2-3 seconds to appear.

Anyone notice this on your 1490?
Other than that, I just love the big screen.

Yup, I have the same issues (POI not displayed during navigation & screen lagging). I noticed that whenever I installed the lite version of mfm maps, the lags improves a tiny bit..but the blank screen still there for a few seconds

It's a really BIG difference when I upgraded from 200W, and I love my new 1490T...
