Cannot be as Nuvi 500/550 screen much bigger thus a higher capacity battery is used.
Nuvi battery of various capacities by models outlined below :

Nuvi 200 series uses a 1250mAh 3.7V Li-Polymer battery
Nuvi 300 series uses a 1250mAh 3.7V Li-Polymer battery
Nuvi 500 series uses a 1880mAh 3.7V Li-Polymer battery
Nuvi 600 series uses a 1500mAh 3.7V Li-Polymer battery
Nuvi 700 series uses a 1250mAh 3.7V Li-Polymer battery
Nuvi 800 series uses a 1100mAh 3.7V Li-Ion battery

Typically Li-Polymer batteries last about 2-3 years. Usage rate is not that important, as long as it is first used it will deteriorate within this period of time (oxidation). These batteries are design to be recharge ~400-500 cycles. You can read more from HERE.... Cheers!

There is no harm in using a higher capacity battery as long as voltage matches and physical size fits into the Nuvi 700 series casing.

Certainly true Bro SB. Any Li-Ion battery with the same 3.7v output will do for the Nuvi. The capacity (mAhr) will only determine the duration of operation and a smaller capacity battery that I used for the Nuvi 300 is still good for 2.5 hours of navigation. Biggest advantage is the cost.... my branded BL-5C battery is only RM25.00 compared to the rather expensive original (+shipping & customs problem when done at Garmin Taiwan)...cheers!

Am facing probs my Nuvi 880. Unit is barely 7mths old, usage 1/10.
Batt complete flat within 2-3days after each full-charged, even when unit not been used at all.
Is there such logic as 'memory-loss'?? I thought Lit-Ion shdn't hv such issues.
Any sifus, pls advise.

Look into the possibility that the battery may be defective or it was not new when purchased :-k

Anyway Nuvi 880 battery is easy to change as it is housed in a compartment and shape is similar to those Nokia phone batteries ...

Me same assumption, too. Thk goodness tis model dun need to dismantle entire back-cover for replacement. Is it safe get similar batt iso OEM?? I just need to ensure it's 3.7V/1150mAh, right!!
