Kenwood DNX7380BT

Postby steong » Fri Nov 29, 2013 9:33 am

I have bought this Kenwood unit with Garmin, but there are no map updates available on garmin.com/kenwood. Can I actually use MFM map image to replace the original? Will the Junction view still works? Anyone here has experience with this unit?

Thanks in advance.

hmmm... mind I ask where are you based. Your unit should be able to use mfm maps and JCV will be available if your unit support it.

Run the installer to generate map file gmapsupp.img

Go buy an SD card.
Create a sub folder /garmin
Put the map file in this folder

I did update my brother Kenwood DNX5360 in his Pajero Sport. This what i did to update his map.

1. Download the latest map update and generate gmapsupp.img.
2. Remove the micro SD card.
3. Backup the content of SD.
4. Copy the gmapsupp.img to SD card. It will overwrite the old file.
5. Insert back the SD card into the head unit.
6. Turn on the head unit and check the new map.

If yo have not write new data to it, you can use a SD card recovery software to recover the deleted files.

I use EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard which helped me recover data from a corrupted SD card which contained my holiday pictures from my digital camera
