HELP needed: USB port of my nuvi 2575R not reconised by PC

Postby epteh » Tue Sep 17, 2013 10:10 pm

When I connected my nuvi 2575R to my PC to update latest Garmin 2013.20 Malfree maps, it was not recognised by the PC.

I then sent to AECO lab, I was told that they could not repair the unit and got to be sent to Taiwan for rectification which would cost me RM400.

I was greatly disappointed by the poor support of the local agent and the high cost of nearly 50% of the price of a brand new set to repair apparently a simple fault like this!

Any one had got the same problem ?

Any help to tackle the fault is highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hi James,

I tried to change USB ports, it is still cannot be recognise the unit.
I also tried on my old notebook running on windows XP, it said "your USB device has malfunctioned".

However, the unit is still working OK, except I can no more update my map from Garmin.

Many thanks James

Switch on your device and connect it to your pc. If can not, unplug it and try for few times it may work.

No need to update maps to your device. You can always use an external mSD Card to store your updated maps from Garmin.

I used to update Malfree Maps onto the mSD Card but have not tried doing it on maps from Garmin Website.
It would be nice if that can be done!

I can see that you re also using 2575R, if you have done it before, I would be most grateful if you can provide me with some tips ?

Thanks for suggestion.

Bro epteh...

Without USB connection there will be stuff you cannot do... but updating map can still be done easily...

- Download the Garmin NT maps from its official site
- Rename malfree_201320_2465.exe to malfree_201320_2465.rar or malfree_201320_2465.zip
- Unrar or Unzip the renamed file.
- Goto Mapdata folder to copy the Gmapsupp.img and go to the JCV folder to get the SgMyMfre.JCV file.
- Copy both files to the appropriate folders in your SD card (Map & JCV)
- Make a text file and rename it gmapsupp.unl. Copy your GPS unlock code into this file and save it. Do not hit enter key after pasting the unlock code into the file. Copy this gmapsupp.unl into the Map folder. You have now unlock your map for this GPS

Done!... you have updated your maps.

Hope this helps.... Cheers!

My instinct for TS problem is
1. Garmin USB driver did not load to the PC
2. USB cabel might broken

Please load Garmin USB driver first to make PC recognise any devices..easiest way is enable auto update with working internet connection.

hope TS success with connections.

you need to use original usb cable that comes with the unit.

normally there is cable ID thingy which you got to be aware of.
