Nuvi 255 has been replaced by Nuvi 1250.

1250 and 255 should be the same 3.5" screen. It is 1350 and 1460 that sport bigger screens.

As stated, there are different versions for different markets. So, the first question must surely be: where will you be ultimately using your Garmin? If it is back in the UK, then buy a UK version. If M'sia, buy the M'sian version when in M'sia/S'pore. Models, I would go for the latest Nuvi 1xxx mod...
