There are free symbian apps that turn your mobile into a data logger. Make several circles around the property, convert the GPX files into Googlemaps KML file and edit the perimeters. Googlemaps co-ordinates are sometimes off a bit but it is just use as aids and for reference.

Before having GPS I would wander in a clockwise direction, thinking somehow I would not lose my orientation. Another method is to turn and face backwards to memorize the path I just took. Am a very satisfied user. There are many MSM versions out there, some give hiccups. But essentially Garmin chips and its navigation software are robust after so many years of fine tuning. You get errors when signals get blocked and accuracy runs wild so expect that if there are lots of tall building...

I have successfully installed garmin mobile xt on the X6 using similar procedures which I did to install on Nokia E72/E71. Bigger screen on the X6. But Nokia touch screen interface sucks so I am back using the E72. Plug a standard earphone and I soon get turn by turn voice prompt for my bike ride.
