How to test if a Garmin map will work in that country

Say, I installed a Garmin map (say, Australia) in my SD card and I can see the name of the map in the device in map info. But I want to make sure it will work if I bring my device to Australia. I am in Singapore now. How can I simulate the device to test the Aussie map as though I am in Australia. T...

Re: How do I do a tracklog if I am in a tunnel?

Okay, I have uploaded 5 .gpx files tracking my drive along the MCE. Hope they will be of some help in mapping the MCE. As I do not know what to do with the .gpx files, I have uploaded the raw tracklogs.

Re: How do I do a tracklog if I am in a tunnel?

Or on "dead reckoning" where the GPS device tries to extrapolate car movement based upon a previously determined position and advancing that position based upon known or estimated speeds over elapsed time? Dear Bro ARMOR1, You are much more knowledgeable than most. Dead reckoning is only ...

Re: How do I do a tracklog if I am in a tunnel?

There is no way to track in the tunnel, but please help to track the external part & all the exists. :tq: Bro OngCC is right, there is no way to receive satellite signals while in a tunnel and it may not be so easy for you to record the tracklog of the exit if you have lost satellite lock while...

How do I do a tracklog if I am in a tunnel?

As I send my wife to work in Beach Road from AYE, I might be going through the Marina Coastal Expressway to take a look before the new year and intend to tracklog my drive. What do I do if I go into the 3.6 km tunnel in MCE and lose the satellite connection? Anyway out of this?

Re: Garmin Nuvi 3592LM SG/MY (Android)

Hi Bro Armor1, I cannot speak for Garmin and sometimes I find it difficult to figure out their logic. Of course it would be much easier to plan the route in Basecamp and transfer the route but there are more ways to skin a cat. I actually travelled with 3 devices when I made my tour of the Golden T...

Re: Garmin Nuvi 3592LM SG/MY (Android)

Hi Jason Thanks for the reply. If I can only plan a trip through the device, then I would say that the Trip Planner function is not useful. This is because the purpose of the Trip Planner function is to automatically creates the routes between 2 or more waypoints. In the case where I need to edit th...

Garmin Nuvi 3592LM SG/MY (Android)

Used this unit with the CN Australia & NZ Navteq map in Brisbane/Gold Coast 3 weeks ago. Generally works well, except a couple of times, screen will just blank white whilst navigating. Need to reboot and re-acvitivate the destination waypoint. A bug, I guess, for a new unit. Sometimes, the unit ...

Re: Nuvi 1460

I bought the Nuvi 1460 2 days ago and I regretted it after half hour of fiddling with it. My main grouses: 1) If you choose "Browse map" to find a location, you will probably spend half a day trying to accurately pinpoint the location you want to save. This is because when scrolling on th...
